We hope you'll join us at our 30^th Anniversary Celebration and Open Palm Awards, which will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at The Blue Macaw (2565 Mission Street) nightclub in the heart of the Mission District.
 
As always, this event will be an opportunity not only to celebrate Dolores Street’s many accomplishments over the past year (and the past 30 years!), but also to recognize others who have made significant contributions to the fields in which we work.
 
Please join us in honoring the recipients of the 2012 Open Palm Awards:

• Housing Justice Award: Oscar Grande, Community Organizer with PODER (People Organizing to Demand Environmental and Economic Rights) for his tremendous leadership over the past decade working with youth and families to fight for affordable housing in the Mission and Excelsior Districts

• Immigrant Rights Award: Tom Ammiano, Assemblymember representing the 13^th District of the State of California for his courageous sponsorship of the California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights and the Trust Act, to ensure that immigrant rights are respected and honored throughout our State

• HIV/AIDS Services Award: Chris Harris, Former Development Specialist, HOPWA  (Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS) programs, San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, for her 18 years of tireless dedication to provide quality housing to some of San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents

• Neighborhood Legacy Award: The Founders of Dolores Street Community Services, for responding to the initial call to provide shelter to Central American refugees arriving in the Mission District in 1982, and laying the foundation for an organization that would continue to flourish and grow for the next three decades
